Are you a wellness professional considering coaching as a career?

Jackie is living proof that wellness and coaching are a match made in heaven! She has seen the benefits for individuals and organizations when coaching is incorporated into wellness programs and she wants to spread the power of coaching so that more people can benefit from this life changing experience.

This year's National Wellness Conference marked 3 years since Jackie's "ah-ha" moment led her to pursue coaching and start her own business. As the week of learning and reconnection with friends swiftly moved on, she realized something.

It was Wednesday. She was in a session about coaching with Dr. Patrick Williams. A light bulb went on in her head and she heard herself gasp. Jackie realized she was already combining her background in wellness with coaching in organization and has been creating contracts that benefit both employees and health promotion programs.

It dawned on her that not one, but four individuals approached her that week and said, "Hey, I hear you're a wellness person turned did you do it?" They toldl her just what she remembered saying a few years back when she discovered that coaching was what she wanted to do with her life.

People also declared to Jackie that they wanted to incorporate coaching into their wellness programs but didn't know how. They asked her, "What's the practical, "how to" application and process to make this fly?" That's how this technique came to life.

My Transition Into Coaching

"Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love."     ~ Rumi

Many people ask me how I found out about coaching and what started me on this path. I'm going to give you a simple response to this transition.

I discovered coaching at the National Wellness Conference in July, 2001, at a day-long session presented by Dr. Karen Wolfe. Within minutes of hearing what coaching was about, I knew it was the concept I'd been searching for. I couldn't think of anything that would fit better with my personality and background in wellness. It would allow me to positively impact people and to have the type of lifestyle I wanted. I soon discovered that coaching was one of the fastest-growing professions in the country.

Once I decided that coaching was the direction I wanted to go, I began taking the steps to get there. I began to gather information about coaching programs and linked with coaches and others who could support me on this adventure.

On 11-01-01 , Whole Life Visions became official. What a coincidence that my PO Box is 1101! In December, I attended Coaching for Excellence through CorePath (New Ventures West introductory course). Shortly after this training, I began The Newfield Network's Coaching for Professional and Personal Mastery Program.

This 9-month program is accredited by the International Coach Federation and is designed with the high standards necessary to establish coaching as a profession.

I attended three national conferences in Washington, DC,

and one regional conference in Chicago, IL. In between, I worked in small groups through email and teleconferences and completed monthly learning guides. In addition, I was guided by a Master Certified Newfield Network Mentor Coach.

Now that the course is complete, I'm seeking certification from The Newfield Network and from The International Coach Federation (ICF). This has been one of my most amazing, life-changing experiences!

The ICF is the professional association of personal and business coaches that seeks to preserve the integrity of coaching around the globe. They are the world's largest nonprofit professional association of personal and business coaches, with more than 5000 members and 179 chapters in 30 countries.

In September 2002, I resigned from my job and now dedicate my days to coaching wonderful people, presenting and consulting. To say the least, the past 3 years have brought many changes and a new life that is rewarding and challenging. It hasn't been easy, but it's definitely one of the best things I've ever done.

Thanks again to everyone for their support, encouragement and understanding! I love coaching and believe it's one of the best of all avenues toward personal growth and development.
