What Is Coaching?
Coaching is an effective, personalized relationship that focuses on the client taking action toward their personal and professional vision, goals and desires. It's an ongoing partnership that helps produce results. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance and enhance their quality of life. Professionally trained coaches listen and observe so they can customize their approach to the individual client's needs. Coaching accelerates your progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice. Coaches believe everyone is naturally creative and resourceful, and it's the coach's function to uncover the resources that you already have. Coaching has been with us for a long time. Today, a fundamental role of a coach is to assist individuals and organizations navigate change, handle transitions, and stay true to reaching their goals. In times of such accelerated change, a professional coach offers guidance, support and encouragement to help people stay focused on a task and, in essence, lead a more meaningful and fulfilling life. Jackie's Coaching Approach And How It Works
Coaches facilitate the process of finding answers within yourself, discovering your purpose and moving you toward your result. A coach accomplishes this by assisting you to identify and resolve roadblocks, by using powerful requests and accountability, by supporting what is working, by listening, and by being enthusiastic and sincere. Coaching is confidential, safe and empowering. Jackie's coaching is unique and also involves observing your language or the conversations you have, your body movements and your emotions. Jackie's coaching commitment is to assist you to develop a plan and set goals to accomplish your objectives through unique conversations. These are examples of why people have begun a coaching relationship with Jackie:
Jackie's Coaching Steps Setting the Foundation (Meeting Ethical Guidelines and Professional Standards; Establishing the Coaching Agreement) Co-Creating the Relationship (Establishing Trust and Intimacy; Coaching Presence) Communicating Effectively (Active Listening; Powerful Questioning; Direct Communication) Facilitating Learning and Results (Creating Awareness; Designing Actions; Planning and Goal Setting; Managing Progress and Accountability) Uncover The Real YouDo people know the real you? Are you able to share your authentic, genuine self with others? Take the example of what happened to one small business owner: At the start of our coaching sessions, she acknowledged she had something very uncomfortable and concerning to share. It had gotten back to her that some staff members thought she was difficult to approach, even a little cold-hearted, short and harsh with them at times. She instantly defended that this wasn’t truly who she was and definitely not how she wanted others to perceive her. Instead, she wanted her staff to feel comfortable, knowing that she cared about them but didn't know how to show compassion when each business day flew by. Was is uncomfortable for her to acknowledge the disconnect between how she saw herself and how others viewed her? Of course, but only through that realization could she begin to make changes. Is Coaching For You?
All sorts of people hire a coach - homemakers, artists, CEOs and retirees. Coaching has the freedom and flexibility to address a wide variety of topics. People frequently hire a coach when they start a new business, make a career transition, desire to improve performance, reevaluate their life choices, seek greater balance, or simply feel ready for a breakthrough. People seek coaching on business, career, finances, health, life balance, weight management, transitions, relationships, family, wellness, athletics, spiritual growth and everything in between. Some have clear, specific goals, "I want a new career" or "I want to lose weight." Others have more vague goals like "I want to be fulfilled" or "I want to be happy." You might think coaching is for people who don't know what they want to do with their lives, but the opposite is also true. Many of my coaching clients are successful, well-adjusted people who are hoping to accomplish even more in their lives. It's smart to ask for help. When you hire a coach, you start to take yourself more seriously and stop putting up with what's dragging you down. So would coaching be a smart investment for you right now? Are you the kind of person who could benefit? You decide. Coaching is for people who recognize that it's a powerful way to help them move forward. Aren't you curious to know what your life could be like if you created a relationship with Coach Jackie? How Is A Coach Different From A Therapist, SportsCoach, Consultant or Best Friend?
A therapist works with people who are asking why, dealing with old issues and seeking healing from emotional pain or trauma. A therapist may assist the client in untangling unconscious conflicts and treat depression, anxiety, phobias, addictions and destructive behavior. Coaching includes several principles from sports coaching - teamwork, going for the goal, being your best. Unlike sports coaching, most life coaching is not based on winning or losing. Coaches strengthen the client's skills as opposed to helping them beat the other team. It's a win/win situation. Consultants are experts with answers or are people who have done what the client is doing. Coaching is a form of consulting. But the coach stays with the client to help implement the new skills to make sure they happen. A best friend is wonderful to have. But is your best friend a professional you will trust to advise you on the most important aspects of your life and/or business? Have a best friend and a coach.
